8 July 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club has Daniel T Searle and the Intrepideros and Greg Cunningham on Sunday 22 July from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  Daniel T Searle and the Intrepideros are a country, soul and folk outfit with splashes of Americanna, with a focus on a music release by Daniel T Searle called Twisted Gospel with the influences of Johnny Cash, Tom Waits and Leonard Coen.  Greg Cunningham has been playing music for over 35 years in various forms with a passion for country blues.

14 August 2019:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is on at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club for Sunday 1st September 2019 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling with Up and Adam and Green Herring.  The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  Up and Adam is a local Western Australian Clawhammer banjo player, influenced by old time, mountain style, traditional American folk and roots music backed by a big voice.  Green Herring, is an acoustic duo, both playing mandolin and guitar, writing songs about the environment for a better world.  

1 September 2019:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is back with the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts in presenting Verandah Folk and Roots, on Sunday 8th September 2019 with Town of Victoria Park support.  For this event, we have the Jon Matthews and John Howard. Jon Matthews is a skilled guitarist who likes playing with western swing, country and jazz influences.  Jon recently performed with Lucky Oceans, pedal steel guitarist extraordinaire, former member of the American country band Asleep at the Wheel and US Grammy award winner.  John Howard is a Perth based singer/songwriter who released his debut 12 track CD ‘So it Goes’ on 1st January 2018 and has been playing his CD at various shows including Toodyays Victoria Hotel and the Gas Light Club in Fremantle.  

20 June 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club is back with Tout Droit and Silva Dee of the Freo Grasshoppers on Sunday 1st July 2018 from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  Tout Droit is a four piece band that specialise in European folk music from the renaissance and mediaeval eras and features the expressive singing and dancing of Jane Hebiton.   Silva Dee is from the popular Freo Grasshoppers who have an energetic reggae feel and their second album “Taking you home tonight” has gained attention in the USA.  Please note that Perth Folk and Roots Club is on the Sunday 1st July rather than the fourth Sunday in June due to another event being booked at Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club.

7 June 2020:  Perth Folk and Roots Club has survived the coronavirus lock downs to return with folk and roots music at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 28th June 2020 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling.  The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Fiona Heath and the Strays. Fiona Heath is originally from New Zealand and brings expressive performance of original songs featuring acoustic music with jazz and soul influences.  The Strays are a band with originals to get their followers singing and dancing in the finest tradition of catchy pop songs.

 

30 November 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club is having its AGM at the Oxford Hotel in Leederville at 7pm on Tuesday 18 December.   Please RSVP by 14/12/2018.

7 April 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club has BoobyTrap and John Talati at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 22nd April 2018 from 5pm to 8pm.  BoobyTrap are a five member hills based band that incorporate tribal rhythms, crazy waltzes and pop beats to their original music and unique cover versions from acapella and heart wrenching ballads, to edgy folk tinged pop songs and rollicking sea shanties.  John writes and plays an interesting variety of music as a solo musician and also fills in on bass with a select number of bands including Rick Steele, The Lovebites & Indigo Duck. 

11 August 2021:  Perth Folk and Roots Club has had to cancel the show planned for Sunday 22nd August 2021 from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley which was a special show for sponsors Masonic Care.  Perth Folk and Roots Club had Silva Dee and The Strays on the bill. However,  Perth Folk and Roots Club is now busy seeking to reschedule this show with the musicians and Masonic Care for September.  Stay tuned for new dates and apologies to all for any inconvenience.

29 October 2017: Perth Folk and Roots Club is in a new partnership with Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and is launching a show on Sunday 19th November 2017.  The performances are from 5 - 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  Rick Steele and Justin Walshe & Rhyll Wilson Duet are featured. Rick Steele is a local legend of the blues scene who has been playing in Perth for more than 30 years.  Justin Walshe and Rhyll Wilson are also part of the Justin Walshe Folk Machine, with Justin a country folk singer songwriter and story teller from Fremantle.

7 July 2019:  The next Perth Folk and Roots Club at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club has been planned for Sunday 21st July 2019 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling.   Silva Dee has been performing in many bands nationally and internationally to date – having formed the Freo Grasshoppers in 2007 performing a mixture of infectious originals and choice covers of reggae and blues.  Silva Dee and the Freo Grasshoppers recently released a new album "Hangin in There" with Jean Guy on Harmonica.  The Ciaran O’Sullivan and Fiona Doyle Duet play a mixture of Irish traditional songs with contemporary folk based songs with Ciarans powerful vocal melodies fused with Fionas flute flare gives this duo a unique sound. 

22 October 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club on Sunday 28th October at Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club from 5pm has Fiona Heath and Kings and Queens. Fiona Heath is originally from New Zealand and brings expressive performance of acoustic music, jazz and soul as well as original songs and crowd favourite interpretations of Amy Winehouse. Kings and Queens walk the line between Americana and British Folk music and the duo weave rich Appalachian guitar with haunting vocal harmonies creating an ensemble of songs that are steeped in the folk tradition whilst offering something new.

27 July 2019:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is back with the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts in presenting Verandah Folk and Roots, on Sunday 11th August 2019 with Town of Victoria Park support.  For this event, we have the Stragglers from Tasmania and Gabrielle Campani. The Stragglers are a folk trio that have been gaining recognition in Tasmania with a recent highlight being their participation in the Dark Mofo Winter Feast, a  Hobart festival supported by the famous Museum of New Art (MONA), one of Tasmania’s main tourist attractions.  Gabriele Campani is a solo performer who recently returned from Europe. He's an acoustic guitar player, singer, composer and arranger with a repertoire of blues, jazz, folk, European and American popular tunes, and original compositions.  

25 November 2019:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is proud to be organising a musical tribute/ fundraiser for Daniel T Searle, a fellow Club musician and friend at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club for Saturday 30th November 2019 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club.  Daniel T Searle recently passed away and was a musician and artist dedicated to honest expression.  A focus for Daniel in recent times has been the release of a number of CD’s including Twisted Gospel reflecting diverse influences from Johnny Cash, Tom Waits and Leonard Coen.  The performances are from 5pm to 9pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley and will feature Rick Steele, Izzy, John McNair & Keith Anthonisz and other musical friends. 

15 March 2019:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is back on Sunday 24th March 2019 from 5 - 8pm at Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley with Dave Johnson and Green Herring.   Dave Johnson is one of WA's most accomplished song writers with his work in The Fling, one of the States most successful folk bands.  In its heyday in the 1990’s, the Fling toured the world’s folk festivals.  Green Herring is an acoustic duo with mandolin and guitar and have performed at Bridgetown Blues Festival, the Bony Mountain Folk Festival and the Nerum Creek Music Festival in Queensland.  

4 December 2019:  Perth Folk and Roots Club will be celebrating Christmas with the last show for the year at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 15th December 2019 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling.  For this event, the Sleepwalkers and Helen Townsend are playing. The Sleepwalkers are Paul Marvin & John Chopping who played with Indigo Duck. In 2019 they re-badged themselves as The Sleepwalkers bringing acoustic based music to the fore.  Helen Townsend is a singer songwriter with a vocal style that has been described as country or contemporary folk with multiple nominations for awards such as Boyup Brook Country Music Award for "Red Light' Single of the Year and a WAM nomination for "Streets of Glory" Song of the Year.

December 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club AGM noted that the Club showing a net deficit for the financial year of $2,070.06. The deficit was as a result of timing of grant payments.  Funding of $7410.60 for the year from a range of organisations and membership fees for folk and roots performances was achieved with City of Stirling, Town of Victoria Park, Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, Curtin University, West Tech Assemblage, Grill'd and WA Poets providing financial support.

10 September 2019:  The next Perth Folk and Roots Club on Sunday 22nd September at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, will feature Dave Robertson and the Kiss List and Salisbury Home. Dave Robertson and the Kiss List are an indie-folk-pop group who have played at numerous festivals including Nannup, Fairbridge, Earthdance and Fremantle festivals and released their much anticipated album Oil, Love and Oxygen in 2017.  Lachlan Gurrs is behind Salisbury Home featuring songs with finger picking guitar and banjo.  Lachlan Gurr was a member of The Kill Devil Hills, a prominent Perth band that won WAMi Awards for "Best Blues/Roots Act" and "Best Country Music Act".

6 June 2021:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is back at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 27th June 2021 from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley with Derek Lee Goodreid and Fiona Heath.   Derek Lee Goodreid is a rock/blues artist with gravely vocals and a raw feel making him live and breathe the blues and has performed at festivals and clubs in Norway.  Fiona Heath is originally from New Zealand, bringing expressive performance of original songs featuring acoustic music with jazz and soul influences and is a crowd favourite at past Perth Folk and Roots Club shows.

14 January 2021:  The New Year of 2021 will be celebrated at Perth Folk and Roots Club at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 24th January 2021 with Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling support.  The performances are from 5pm - 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  For this event,  Dilip Parekh and Turning Left are featured. Dilip Parekh is an Indian Irishman from Fremantle who is a singer/songwriter established as one of Western Australia’s finest songwriters.  Turning Left is a blues trio of established Perth musicians including Gordon German on guitar and vocals, Steve Prescott on bass and David Knox on drums.  

4 March 2020:  The next Perth Folk and Roots Club is on Sunday 22nd March 2020 with Charlie Carters and John Talati supported by the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling.  The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  Dilip Parekh is an Indian Irishman from Fremantle who is a singer/songwriter that has established himself as one of Western Australia’s finest songwriters and is currently playing in Charlie Carters, a band featuring sax, drums, bass and acoustic guitar.  John Talati is a singer/songwriter who has played the Perth scene in many local bands including Rick Steele band, Indigo Duck and the Lovebites.

7 January 2019: Perth Folk and Roots Club welcomes 2019 with Dilip Parekh and Dave Robertson & the Kiss List at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, Sunday 27th January 2019 starting at 5pm.  Dilip Parekh from Fremantle is a singer/songwriter and front man for Dilip and the Davs and has established himself as one of Western Australia’s finest songwriters.  Dave Robertson is a story teller though his indie-folk-pop songs and has played at Nannup, Fairbridge, Earthdance and Fremantle festivals.

3 January 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club Club has Steve Tallis and the Smith & Mathews Duet on Sunday 28th January 2018 from 5pm at Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club.  Steve Tallis is WA's self proclaimed blues shaman who has been performing and recording since the 1960’s. The Smith and Mathews Duet brings together the Suntones Steve Smith and Jon Mathews of Conscious Dreamers. The Suntones “In the Valley” album contains songs penned by Steve Smith and Jeff Barham. The Suntones also completed a successful tour of the 2012 Tamworth Country Music Festival. Jon Matthews is part of the Conscious Dreamers duet playing americana folk. 

6  April 2019:  Perth Folk and Roots Club lineup has been announced for Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 28th April 2019 with the support of Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling.  The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  For this event, Perth Folk and Roots Club has Robbie Jalapeno and John Howard.  Robbie Jalapeno is the founder of the popular and enigmatic Faceless Bureaucrats and combines acoustic guitar with funk.  John Howard is a Perth based singer/songwriter who released his debut 12 track CD ‘So it Goes’ with gentle and spirited original songs on 1st January 2018.

3 August 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club has Empire Blues Duet and John Howard on Sunday 2 September from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  Empire Blues Duet play classic blues and original material with British blues influenced by artists like John Martyn, Eric Clapton and John Mayall as well as your more traditional blues.  John Howard is a Perth based singer/songwriter who released his debut 12 track CD ‘So it Goes’ on 1st January 2018 which crosses the folk/rock/country genres. 

13 July 2021:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is back at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 25th July 2021 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling.  The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  For this event, Perth Folk and Roots Club has Kerry B Ryan and Kyra Bee and the Illegals. Kerry B Ryan is a blues guitarist who has been running regular blues shows at Ellington’s Jazz Club and whose CD Crazy Blues has been getting airplay across Australia on blues programs and also airplay in the USA.  Kyra Bee and the Illegals are a five piece Rock and Blues Perth Hills based outfit who were winners of the Blues Challenge heat and runner up in the International Blues Challenge competition held at the Bridgetown Blues Festival in 2016.

November 2017: Perth Folk and Roots Club teamed with Curtin University for their Learning and Teaching Engagement session on 27 November 2017. The Club also provided the music for the West Tech Assemblage on 28 November which had the Premier of Western Australia in attendance.

14 November 2019: Perth Folk and Roots Club AGM noted that the Club made a net surplus for the 2018 - 2019 financial year of $1,327.05.  Funding of $11,623.00 for the year was achieved from a range of organisations and from membership fees with City of Stirling, Town of Victoria Park, Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, Masonic Care, West Tech Assemblage and Bank West providing financial support. The Committee was re-elected apart from John Howard being nominated as Vice President to join the Committee.

9 February 2019: Perth Folk and Roots Club is back in February at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 24th February 2019 starting at 5pm.  For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Steve Tallis and the Western Suntones.   Steve Tallis is Western Australia’s self proclaimed blues shaman who has been performing and recording since the 1960’s and is a major figure in the Perth blues scene.  The Western Suntones were formed in 2009 in Fremantle and are a country/blues roots based alt country Americana band currently playing in and around Perth WA.

12 October 2020:  Perth Folk and Roots Club has free live folk and roots music at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 25th October 2020 and will be featuring Steve Tallis and three piece OhJa.   Steve Tallis recently launched his new CD, Where Many Rivers Meet which will be available at his show at Perth Folk and Roots Club.  Steve is Western Australia’s self proclaimed blues shaman who has been performing and recording since the 1960’s and is a major figure in the Perth blues scene.   OhJa is a recently formed trio whose repertoire features experimental jazz covers raging from Jobim to Childish Cambino.

1 November 2020:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is back with live folk and roots music at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 22nd November 2020 with a special show for sponsors Masonic Care.  The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Cathy Earle and Gypsy Lou.  Cathy Earle as a solo guitarist has a big voice that demands attention.  Recently she has been performing at the Perth Blues Club and other venues with her own Cathy Earl Band covering Koko Taylor, Big Mama Thornton, Bonnie Raitt, Elmore James & Renee Geyer just to name a few.  GypsyLou is a two-part vocal harmony duo with guitar accompaniment, playing traditional Irish and Scottish folk music, original indie-folk songs plus covers of popular music.    

11 December 2020:  The next Perth Folk and Roots Club at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club is seeing the year out for an Xmas celebration on Sunday 13th December 2020 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling.  The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has John Talati and Adele and Salisbury Home.  John Talati is a singer/songwriter who has played the Perth scene for many years and together with Adele he has found a duet to bring together sweet harmonies and energy filled acoustic music. Lachlan Gurr previously of the Kill Devil Hills brings intricate finger picking on guitar and banjo to weave his songs as Salisbury Home.  

31 October 2019:  The last Verandah Folk and Roots for 2019 is on Sunday 10th November 2019 from 4pm - 7pm at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts, 12 Kent Street, East Victoria Park with Dilip Parekh/Charlie Carters and Oceanique. Dilip is currently playing in a new act, Charlie Carters representing a music collective with Blew Drew on harmonica and drums/percussionist Lord Warren of Harvey.  Oceanique, is an Indie Folk duet with an ethereal sound inspired by Missy Higgins, Stella Donnelly & The Waifs.  

26 October 2017: Los Dia De Morta Day of the Dead Celebrations is on at Fibonacci Centre, 19 Blinco Street, Fremantle on Thursday 2nd November 2017. Performances are from 7 - 10pm and entrance is $15 / $10 concession for those dressed for Day of the Dead. Mexican food is also available. Steve Tallis, Ella Munro and the John McNair & Keith Anthonisz Duo are featured. Steve Tallis is Western Australia’s self proclaimed blues shaman who has been performing and recording since the 1960’s . Ella Munro has been described by Triple J Unearthed as raw and present in every note, wrenching you into a reality with her stories through bluesy, grunge driven, alt folk.

16 May 2019:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is back at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 26th May 2019 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling.  On this occasion we also gratefully acknowledge the sponsorship of this event by Masonic Care WA.  The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  For this event, we have the Strays and Chooky the Bluesman.  The Strays are a rock band offering high energy performances.  Chook the Bluesman is a solo bluesman who plays slide guitar on a dobro supported by harmonica and tambourine. 

September 2017: Perth Folk and Roots Club lineup supported by City of Stirling & Mt Lawley Bowling Club has been announced for Sunday 24th September 2017 from 5pm at the Mount Lawley Bowling Club, Corner Storthes & Rookwood Street, Mount Lawley and will be featuring Cathie Travers and the Suntones.  Cathie is a multi-instrumentalist and an accordionist and has performed in internationally. The Suntones are a Fremantle four piece playing country/blues roots music.  

16 July 2020:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is back with live folk and roots music at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 26th July 2020 from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  For this event we have the Jook Joint Band and Up and Adam.  Jook Joint Band  is  a  jug  band  at  heart  and  they  have  been  wowing  audiences with their renditions  of  old  time  blues,  skiffle  and  ragtime  music  in  and around Western Australia for the past ten years.  Up and Adam is a local Western Australian Clawhammer banjo player, uniquely different in his playing style and presentation.  Up and Adam’s style is influenced by old time, mountain style, traditional American folk and roots music.  

1 July 2019:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts presenting Verandah Folk and Roots, on Sunday 14th July 2019 with Town of Victoria Park support.  The performances are from 4pm to 7pm at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts, 12 Kent Street, East Victoria Park and all are welcome. For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Twa Corbies, Izzy and a duet of Keith Anthonisz and Paul Homewood.  Twa Corbies are a duet bringing together the rich cultural legacy of Ireland and the British Isles, with the traditional music of India and of the Orient. Izzy is a female drummer come guitarist with a love of Bob Dylan who has played with a number of roots based bands including Kim Bettenay and the Passing Strays and the Moonshine Stills.  

5 May 2019:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is back with the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts in presenting Verandah Folk and Roots, on Sunday 12th May 2019 with Town of Victoria Park support.  The performances are from 4pm to 7pm at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts, 12 Kent Street, East Victoria Park.  Verandah Folk and Roots will be run on this occasion at the same time that an Art Lounge will be running over the weekend with local artisan producers in WA food and drink.  For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has John Talati, Gypsy Lou and a trio of John McNair, Keith Anthonisz and Paul Homewood. 

7 January 2020:  The Perth Folk and Roots Club will be starting 2020 on Australia Day at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, from 5pm to 8pm at 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley on Sunday 26 January 2019 with Steve Tallis and Bootleg Al.  Steve Tallis is Western Australia’s self proclaimed blues shaman who has been performing and recording since the 1960’s and is a major figure in the Perth blues scene.  Steve recently returned to Perth after performing in Paris.  Bootleg Al is a trio from different musical backgrounds with a love of blues and country rock.

2 November 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club supported the Westech Assemblage  with music on 2nd November 2018 at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Perth.

27 February 2019: Perth Folk and Roots Club is back at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts in presenting Verandah Folk and Roots, on Sunday 10th March 2019 with Town of Victoria Park support.  The performances are from 4pm to 7pm at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts, 12 Kent Street, East Victoria Park  For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has the Jenny Gaunt Trio, Greg Cunningham and John McNair, Keith Anthonisz and Paul Homewood. Jenny Gaunt is a folk/alternative songwriter with a debut solo EP, with guitar, keys and cello also supported by bass, percussion, banjo, clarinet and glockenspiel.  Greg Cunningham is a masterful player of a variety of instruments including finger picking guitar, slide, banjo, mandolin and harmonica. 

7 September 2020:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is back with live folk and roots music at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 27th September 2020. For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has John Howard and Donna Iverson.   John Howard is releasing a new album ‘Vintage Commando’ which he will be featuring along with songs from his first album.  John will be joined by Jon Matthews on electric guitar and Alan Dawson on bass guitar.  Donna Iverson is a singer songwriter who is focused on melodically rich storytelling, acoustic folk rock musings and imaginings and has performed at Perth Fringe Festival as well as Defectors Bar in Mt Lawley, Choo Choos Bar, Swan Hotel and the North Fremantle Bowling Club. 

20 March 2021:  Craig Atkins on a National tour and originally from South Australia and JemClak are featured at Perth Folk and Roots Club on Sunday 28 March 2021 from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  Award Winning Multi-Instrumentalist Craig Atkins is a ‘one-man band’ songwriter and performer originally from Riverland SA and regularly tours the country with acoustic guitars, lap slide, didgeridoos and more.  Craig has performed at Tamworth Country Music Festival and Byron Bay Guitar Festival.  Clarence Bailey and Jeremy Boyd make up JemClak who have both been in many acts over the years.  Jeremy has recorded the wonderful acoustic 'Alive and Kicking' and Clarence in JemClak plays the drums. 

29 September 2019:  The next Perth Folk and Roots Club on Sunday 27th October at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, will feature the Western Suntones and the Shergold/McNair Project. The Western Suntones were formed in 2009 in Fremantle and are a country/blues roots based alt country Americana band currently playing in and around Perth WA. Tony Shergold is a virtuoso guitarist, bassist and singer/songwriter. He has worked with Rick Steele & the Hot Biscuit Band, fronted his own Tony Shergold Band in the 1990s and is currently performing blues in the Shergold/McNair Project with John McNair.

13 May 2021:  Natalie D-Napoleon with Cathi Olivieri and Dean Anthonisz will be playing at Perth Folk and Roots Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley on Sunday 23rd May 2021 from 5-8pm. Natalie D-Napoleon is originally from Fremantle and is a singer-songwriter who returned home after spending over a decade in Santa Barbara, California.  Natalie D-Napoleon and Cathi Olivieri will join together to perform songs from Natalie's album "You Wanted To Be The Shore But Instead You Were The Sea".  Dean Anthonisz is a musician and singer songwriter who recently returned from Melbourne.  Dean was part of a number of prominent Perth bands including Mile End and Mongrel Country and released a number of recordings including Rumble Fish and Downers that received great reviews for both recordings and live performance.

December 2017: Perth Folk and Roots Club AGM noted that the Club achieved a surplus of $3,521.47 during 2016/2017 with funds supporting a range of folk and roots performances with City of Stirling, City of Swan, Mount Lawley Bowling Club, J Shed and Bankwest support.  Perth Folk and Roots Club has also been able to find new supporters including Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club with more to be announced during 2018. 

6 February 2019: Perth Folk and Roots Club attended the Town of Victoria Park Community Grants Awards Presentation Evening on 6 February after being successful in being awarded a Community Grant for the Verandah Folk and Roots series in 2019.

13 August 2020:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is back with live folk and roots music at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 23rd August 2020 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling.  The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Kerry B Ryan and Oceanique.  Kerry B Ryan is a blues guitarist, born in North Queensland and has been running regular blues shows at Ellington’s Jazz Club.  Kerry’s 2nd CD Crazy Blues which has been getting airplay across Australia on blues programs and also airplay in the USA.  Oceanique, is an Indie Folk duet based in Perth. They have breezy and beautiful story telling lyrics and sibling harmonies fronted by twins, Maddy and Jess Larkman, originally from Walpole WA.



12 October 2020: Perth Folk and Roots Club is having its AGM at the Oxford Hotel in Leederville at 6pm on Tuesday 10 November.   Please RSVP by 4/11/2020.

17 August 2021:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is back at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 26th September 2021 with Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling support for a special show for sponsors Masonic Care. The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley. For this event, Perth Folk and Roots Club has Silva Dee and The Strays. Silva Dee has been performing solo and in many bands nationally and internationally to date having formed the Freo Grasshoppers in 2007 with his music gaining global attention in the USA. The Strays formed in 2012 and came together with the current line-up in late 2014. They are a group of seasoned musicians with diverse musical histories and influences and are always well received by Perth Folk and Roots Club audiences.

1  April 2019: Perth Folk and Roots Club is back at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts in presenting Verandah Folk and Roots, on Sunday 14th April 2019 with Town of Victoria Park support.  The performances are from 4pm to 7pm at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts, 12 Kent Street, East Victoria Park  For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Kerry B Ryan, Magnolia, John Mc Nair and Matt Stapleton. Kerry B Ryan is a blues guitarist whose CD Crazy Blues which has been getting airplay across Australia on blues programs and also airplay in the USA.  Magnolia is a duo comprised of Siân McMillan and Nicola Chambers, who blend sultry, soft guitar work and harmonies.  

11 March 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club has the Strays and Daniel T Searle at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 25th March 2018 from 5pm to 8pm.  The Strays are a band formed in 2012 and have originals that get their followers singing and dancing in the finest tradition of catchy pop songs.  Daniel T Searle is a musician and an artist that brings together country, blues and gospel is a unique mix of atmospheric sounds accompanied by his deep rich voice. 

18 April 2021:  House band, Kings of Dystopia that starts of the night at Perth Folk and Roots Club is playing at the Swallow Bar, 198 Whatley Crescent, Maylands, from 4.00pm - 6.00pm this Sunday 18 April 2021. Songs include an eclectic mix of covers including Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker and War as well as some tasteful originals mixing folk, roots and blues that will support the atmosphere and ambience of the Swallow Bar which serves a thoughtful selection of wines, beers, spirits and cocktails as well as classic European food dishes.

The Perth Folk and Roots Club runs a monthly event with performances at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club.  Perth Folk and Roots Club ran a music series  Verandah Folk and Roots on the second Sunday of the month, at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts, 12 Kent Street, East Victoria.  It also completed a music series, Folk and Roots @ Guildford at the Mechanics Institute Hall, 20 Meadow Street, Guildford.  The Club is supported by City of Stirling, Town of Victoria Park and City of Swan. Originally the Perth Folk and Roots Club started at the Oxford Hotel in 2012 by former Committee members of the WA Folk Federation in order to expand venues for musicians to perform.

30 November 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club is having its Christmas show at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Saturday 15th December 2018 starting at 5pm.  For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Kerry B Ryan and Danse Macabre.   Kerry has been running regular blues shows at Ellington’s Jazz Club and Kerry’s 2nd CD Crazy Blues has been getting airplay across Australia on blues programs and also airplay in the USA.  Danse Macabre is a new four piece band with folksy gentle numbers, upbeat swampy originals and twisted covers.

31 January 2019: Perth Folk and Roots Club together with the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts is running a new free music series, Verandah Folk and Roots, starting on Sunday 10th February 2019 with Town of Victoria Park support.  The performances are from 4pm to 7pm at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts, 12 Kent Street, East Victoria Park and all are welcome to come along.  For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has a Helen Townsend Duet, Daniel T Searle and Paul Homewood & Keith Anthonisz. 

8 May 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club is on Sunday 27th May 2018 from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley and features Bootleg Al and a trio of John McNair, Matt Stapleton and Leanne Foley.  Bootleg Al is a trio from different musical backgrounds with a love of blues and country rock. John McNair, Matt Stapleton and Leanne Foley as a trio bring together a range of different styles and influences.  John McNairs musical background includes playing with world-renowned Perth Blues slide guitarist Dave Hole, Matt Stapleton is a lively and talented fiddler and Leanne Foley is a singer who had performed in concerts as a soloist.

28 September 2019:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is back at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts for Verandah Folk and Roots, Sunday 13th October 2019 from 4 - 7pm at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts, 12 Kent Street, East Victoria Park.  Fiona Heath and the Hardey McMurrick Two are featured. Fiona Heath from New Zealand brings expressive performances of acoustic music, jazz and soul as well as original songs and crowd favourite interpretations of Amy Winehouse. The Hardey McMurrick Two combine blues, folk, jazz, old time americana, spoken word and hip hop into new musical directions. 

29 October 2017: The last Folk and Roots @ Guildford for 2017 is on Saturday 11th November from 5 - 8pm at the Mechanics Institute Hall, 20 Meadow Street, Guildford.  Featured acts are Leanne Bugat and Little Tree.  Leanne Bugat is originally from Melbourne who recorded her first album in 2005 and entered three songs into an international song writing contest and won Song of the year with her song “Without condition”.  Little Tree are Priscilla and Noreen from the Perth hills.  Little Tree have made two albums called Desert Sun and Skylight launched at the Kalamunda Hotel.

15 June 2019:  Perth Folk and Roots Club has planned the next folk and roots music session at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club for Sunday 23rd June 2019 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling.  The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Fiona Heath and Bootleg Al. 11 February 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club is working with Grill’d Burgers on a community showfrom 6 to 9pm at Grill’d Burgers, 669 Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley on Wednesday 21st February from 6pm to 9pm.  Perth Folk and Roots Club seeks its members to come down and have a burger for dinner and vote to help Perth Folk and Roots Club by placing tokens in our jar so we can win a community grant!  Perth Folk and Roots Club will be having Little Tree and Greg Cunningham for this event.  Little Tree are folk musicians from the Perth hills and Greg Cunningham is a masterful player of finger picking guitar, slide, banjo, mandolin and harmonica.

December 2017: Perth Folk and Roots Club is having its AGM at the Oxford Hotel in Leederville at 7pm on Tuesday 12 December.   Please RSVP by 5/12/2017.

17 March 2020:  Perth Folk and Roots Club event planned for this Sunday 22nd March at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and future events have been cancelled in line with the advice of Bowls Western Australia to all bowling clubs that social events planned should be cancelled in response to the coronavirus.  Apologies for any inconvenience and we shall keep you up to date on plans for a return to having shows in the future.

11 February 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club Club has Dilip Parekh in a duet and Fiona Heath on Sunday 25th February 2018 from 5pm at Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club.  Dilip Parekh is an Indian Irishman from Fremantle who is a singer/songwriter and is more widely known as the front man for high energy band - Dilip n the Davs playing reggae/ska/funk/grooves.  Fiona Heath is originally from New Zealand and brings expressive performance of acoustic music, jazz and soul as well as original songs and crowd favourite interpretations of Amy Winehouse. 

13 November 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club on Sunday 25th November from 5pm at Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club has Jook Joint Band and Izzy. Jook Joint Band  is  a  jug  band  at  heart  and  they  have  been  wowing  audiences with old  time  blues,  skiffle  and  ragtime  music  in  and around Western Australia for the past ten years.  Izzy plays laid back acoustic roots music with a picking style reminiscent of Greenwhich Village folk music and is inspired by Mississippi John Hurt and Bob Dylan.

7 September 2020:  House band, Kings of Dystopia that starts of the night at Perth Folk and Roots Club is playing at the Gypsy Tapas House, 124 High Street, Fremantle, from 7.30pm on Friday 18 September 2020. Kings of Dystopia features Keith Anthonisz, President of Perth Folk and Roots Club and a singer songwriter with numerous CD's released.  The music is original, melodic, mysterious and hard edged all at the same time and on this occasion, they will be the main course. 

4 April 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club is working with the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts for Verandah Folk and Roots, a free music show on Sunday 15th April 2018 with Town of Victoria Park support as part of the Victoria Park Arts Season.  The performances are from 2pm to 6pm at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts, 12 Kent Street, East Victoria Park and all are welcome to come along.  For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Steve Tallis, Dave Robertson and the Kiss List, Gypsy Lou and a Trio of John McNair, Matt Stapleton and Keith Anthonisz.

9 February 2021:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is on Sunday 28 February 2021 from 5pm to 8pm supported by the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley and will be featuring Hardey McMurrick Two and Greg Cunningham.   The Hardey McMurrick Two combine blues, folk, jazz, old time americana, spoken word and hip hop into new musical directions and have been playing a diverse range of gigs from Ellingtons Jazz Club to the Fairbridge Festival, the Albany Harbourside concert series to the Boston Brewery, Denmark South West of WA.  Greg Cunningham has been playing music for over 35 years in various forms with a current focus on country blues. Greg is a masterful player of a variety of instruments including finger picking guitar, slide and banjo. 

11 November 2019:  The next Perth Folk and Roots Club at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club has been planned for Sunday 24th November 2019 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling.  The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Kerry B Ryan and Danse Macabre.   Kerry B Ryan is a blues guitarist who has been running regular blues shows at Ellington’s Jazz Club.  His CD Crazy Blues which has been getting airplay across Australia and in the USA.  Danse Macabre is a hills band that blends the male and female harmonies of Sian McMillan and Shaun Coffey to their folk and swampy originals. 

7 October 2017: On Saturday 14th October, Brett Hardwick & Juanita May Duet and Robbie Jalapeno will be performing at Folk and Roots @ Guildford on Saturday 14th October from 5.00pm at the Mechanics Institute Hall, 20 Meadow Street, Guildford.  Brett Hardwick and Juanita May are a father and daughter duo from the Perth hills with Brett part of the music scene since the late 70s. Robbie Jalapeno is the founder of The Faceless Bureaucrats and combines acoustic guitar with funk.

10 November 2020: Perth Folk and Roots Club AGM noted that the Club raised income during 2019/2020 of $6270 from a range of organisations and from membership fees with City of Stirling, Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, Masonic Care, West Tech Assemblage and Bank West providing financial support. The Committee welcomed new Committee members Peter Birch as Vice President and Steve Warner Jones as Treasurer.

11 April 2021:  Perth Folk and Roots Club is back at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 2nd May 2021 from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley with Clandestine and Nick Northcott. Clandestine are a hills-based group led by someone familiar to Perth Folk and Roots Club, Sian Johanna.  Clandestine take their cues from genres such as Alt-Country, Americana and Bluegrass, taking pride in the delivery of soaring vocal harmonies.  Nick Northcott is an acoustic fingerstyle guitarist who grew up on Kangaroo Island in South Australia and interprets popular songs in live performances including a wonderful instrumental version of Under the Milky Way by the Church.  

7 February 2020:  The Perth Folk and Roots Club has Jenny Gaunt Band and Green Herring on Sunday 23rd February 2020 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling.  The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  Jenny Gaunts folk/alternative style has been described as “hauntingly beautiful”.  Green Herring are Lee Goodall and Irma Lachmund, an acoustic duo, both playing mandolin and guitar and about to hit the road.

31 May 2019:  Perth Folk and Roots Club has Daniel T Searle, Cathy Earle and a trio of John McNair, Keith Anthonisz and Paul Homewood at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts for Verandah Folk and Roots, on Sunday 9th June May 2019 with Town of Victoria Park support.  The performances are from 4pm to 7pm at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts, 12 Kent Street, East Victoria Park.  Daniel T Searle is a country and folk singer songwriter  with splashes of Americanna, with a focus on a music release by Daniel T Searle called Twisted Gospel with the influences of Johnny Cash, Tom Waits and Leonard Coen.   Cathy Earle is a solo guitarist with a big voice that demands attention.  Recently she performed at the Perth Blues Club, with Danny Loong's Universal Blues. 

6 September 2018: Perth Folk and Roots Club has the Strays and Chook the Bluesman on Sunday 23rd September from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley.  The Strays are a high energy group of musicians playing everything from acoustic and folk melodies through to electric reggae and rock with catchy pop songs and infectious dance music. Chook the Bluesman (Steven Keir) is a solo bluesman who is 100% blues and one of the last traditional delta blues style players and singers around.  He is not to be missed for blues aficionados.
